Gaeron Friedrichs

Biography:

Gaeron is a 2nd year PhD student in RF and Electromagnetics. Prior to joining CU, Gaeron completed an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at Virginia Tech. While there, he helped develop CubeSat testing infrastructure as a NASA VSGC Undergraduate Research Fellow. He also pursued other electromagnetics and RF related research with Rolls-Royce, Alion Science and Technology, and the Hume Center for National Security. Gaeron is now a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellow under the advisement of Professor Dejan Filipovic. His research focuses on wideband, mmWave antennas for classical and Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) applications. He is interested in the applicability of tightly coupled arrays, array thinning, and machine-learning driven reconfigurability for current 5G needs as well as future spectrum expansions.
