Areyana Proctor

Areyana Proctor graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in journalism and media production and a double minor in leadership studies and sociology. She did in research on racial and educational inequality and the impacts that media and technology have on these issues. She is also a graduate of the INVST Community Studies Leadership program and a part of the Multicultural Leadership scholars program. During her time at CU, she was able to present her honors thesis about criminalized representations of the Black body to multiple conferences and hopes to continue to enhance and use her skills and education to explore the sociological impact of media and representation. She also hopes to use arts as a vehicle for communicating to a broad public about how to make skillful, strategic, and positive social change. Areyana will be attending the MA + PhD Communication Arts program at the University of Wisconsin, Madison starting in the Fall of 2023.
