The Research on Accountability, Civics, and Equity (RACE) Lab is a hub for research on the politics of marginalized populations at the University of Colorado Boulder. Marginalized populations include but are not limited to ethnic and racial minorities, the LGBTQ+ community, women and marginalized genders, Indigenous peoples, immigrant populations, and the working class. Our mission is to conduct and promote cutting-edge research that amplifies the voices and experiences of marginalized populations in the democratic process. We are a nonpartisan research group composed of an intellectually diverse group of scholars and students.
Using pluralistic research methods and approaches, our lab seeks to uncover the systemic dynamics that perpetuate inequities and to develop strategies for building more diverse and inclusive democratic institutions. We believe that a truly inclusive society is one that not only acknowledges but actively addresses the diverse needs of all its members. By fostering collaboration among scholars, policymakers, and community leaders, the lab aims to contribute to the creation of a more equitable society.
As a part of the University of Colorado Boulder our mission includes providing undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities to actively engage in research and to prepare them to be active citizens in a diverse and inclusive democracy.
We are based in the Department of Political Science, but we welcome faculty, postdoctoral, and graduate fellow applications from any department.
