Sophia’s research centers around observing the post-transcriptional mechanism of alternative splicing and determining its contributions to cardiomyopathy. She was awarded a CU Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program grant for her project, which focused on the kinase MAP4K3 and its involvement in alternative splicing in cardiomyocytes and autophagy.

Sophia is a 2022 Boettcher Scholar and Honors student earning a BA in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, and minors in Leadership Studies and Music, on the pre-medicine track. At CU, she is a Presidents Leadership Class Scholar, an executive member of the CU Boettcher Social and Service Committee, and a Senior Analyst in Leeds Consulting Group, in addition to her undergraduate research. She is a pianist, a children’s book author, passionate about traveling, learning new languages and cultures, and serving underrepresented communities through international volunteering, medicine, her research, and beyond.
