Specialization — Expertise in sensory or muscle physiology that augments existing strengths within the department. The specific area of focus could be any topic within the domain from the molecular foundation of muscle and its associated tissues to the processing of sensory signals within the nervous system. Examples include, but are not limited to, the study of (1) sensory receptors and integration of receptor functions at organismal level, (2) molecular, cellular and neural mechanisms of muscle development and aging, and (3) sensory-motor interaction.

Qualifications — The applicant shall have completed postdoctoral training and have published previous research in premier journals. Evidence of an ability to obtain extramural grant support and some teaching experience are highly desired. The annual teaching assignment will comprise one course that meets the requirements for the undergraduate degree in integrative physiology, plus one seminar course.
Responsibilities — The applicant will (1) establish an independent research program supported by awards from extramural agencies, (2) contribute to the teaching mission of the undergraduate program, (3) provide teaching and mentoring for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and (4) perform service for the department, university, and profession.
General Information — The Department of Integrative Physiology has a faculty roster that includes 24 tenured and tenure-eligible faculty and 9 instructors. The department offers BA, MS, and PhD degrees in integrative physiology. The undergraduate and graduate programs comprise ~1800 and 70 students, respectively.
