The deal between the European Union and Turkey to curb mass migration to Greece’s shores is not working.
The Daily Mail reports that more than 200 migrants, mostly Syrian, have arrived on Greek islands on Tuesday and Wednesday. Turkey and the European Union recently signed a deal that would have migrants coming in from Turkey sent back to the country. Of the many hundreds that have come in so far, only 325 have been sent back. The number of arrivals is still greatly exceeding the number of people that are being sent back.

The Sicilian Mafia has declared war on refugees in the city of Palermo.
The feared criminal organization is weary of the power that African crime gangs have built up in the past years in Italy and has decided to begin a bloody turf war. Leoluca Orlando, Mayor of Palermo, said last week that the city does not feel Italian anymore, rather “a place like Istanbul or Beirut”.
Sicily is one of the main landing points for migrants and refugees coming from the African Continent. Arrivals on the Italian island sometimes exceed more than one thousand a day.
Half of Syria’s population has been displace by the civil war.
The CNN reported this week that half of Syria’s population has left their houses following the start of the civil war in 2011.
The alarming report states that one every two Syrians has either fled or been killed. Most have fled to neighbouring countries such as Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq. Of the 4.1 millions Syrian refugees that have left the country, one every four has fled to Europe, where European countries are struggling with the human tide running away from war and destruction.
