The Colorado Diversity Initiative offers professional development, mentoring and financial support opportunities to underserved prospective graduate students in science, math and engineering. Through the initiative, we foster a community of graduate student peers, and offer them the opportunity to meet, socialize and share their experiences.

Colorado Advantage Program

The Colorado Advantage Program invites prospective applicants to CU Boulder during a weekend in the fall to learn about STEM doctoral opportunities, meet with faculty, tour research facilities and interact with current graduate students. Applicants for the program must be intending to apply for admission into a STEM PhD program for the following fall term. The goal of the program is to recruit a diverse pool of candidates into CU Boulder’s STEM doctoral programs.

Colorado Diversity Initiative Fellowship

The Colorado Diversity Initiative offers support to assist in the recruitment of first-year graduate students from historically underrepresented and marginalized groups within the U.S., including citizens and permanent residents, into Master's and Ph.D. programs. Each year, departments are expected to demonstrate their commitment to both recruiting and retaining students from these targeted populations to qualify for funds. Graduate program coordinators must nominate individuals to whom they have extended an offer of admission or who have already accepted their offer for enrollment. CDI will send approval/decline notices by mid March annually to graduate program coordinators.
