National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Chapter
CU Boulder is a member of NSBE whose mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succedd professionally and positvely impact the community.

Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) Chapter
CU Boulder is a member of SACNAS, which is dedicated to fostering the success of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers and positions of leadership in STEM.

The GEM Fellowship Consortium
CU Boulder is a member of the GEM Fellowship Consortium, which advocates for the inclusion of historically excluded and intentionally marginalized groups in Graduate STEM education and the technical workforce. Below are some frequently asked questions about the consortium.
YES, GEM applicants are offered application fee waivers. Applicants should submit GEM documentation in their grauate application when applying.
Students may be eligible for application fee waivers awarded by the Graduate School. Please see the Graduate School’s Graduate Application FAQs and scroll down to the “Submit Application Fee and Payment” section for information about application fee waivers.
No. Graduate students are funded by individual departments. When students receive an offer of admission to a graduate program at CU Boulder, the offer letter includes information about financial support. There is no additional institutional graduate student support that is available to students who apply to GEM.
No, the GEM award becomes part of the student’s total financial package that supports their graduate education at CU Boulder.
The Leadership Alliance
CU Boulder is also a member of The Leadership Alliance, a national consortium of universities dedicated to promoting diversity in STEM research. Leadership Alliance programs foster intellectual and professional growth along every stage of the academic and career path. Resources for undergraduates, grad students, postdocs and faculty include:
