Ryan Hearty

Ryan Hearty is a historian of technology who studies the past in order to educate and inform future engineering leaders. After studying engineering and philosophy as an undergraduate, he worked as an engineer for six years before earning a Ph.D. in the history of science. He now teaches at Johns Hopkins University's Whiting School of Engineering. Ryan's current book project examines the rise of environmental engineering in the U.S. after World War II.
