Come join us as we hear from Skateistan - an award-winning non-profit that empowers children through skateboarding and education. Rory Burke (IAFS ’03) and his colleague Zainab Hussaini will give an update on the organization’s current plans for their work in Afghanistan. Background: Skateistan was founded in Kabul, Afghanistan in 2008 and now has chapters all over the world. In the fall of 2021, the organization made the hard decision to suspend their operations in Afghanistan for the safety of their staff due to the political unrest in the area. But beginning in 2022, Skateistan has been able to run programs in Afghanistan again! Join us to learn about the next stages of Skateistan’s goals for Afghanistan!
