Did your student participate in sorority recruitment? Here's what happens next.

Fraternity & Sorority Life uses a mutual selection process where chapters select the potential members they would like invite to membership, and potential members prioritize which organizations they would like to join. This mutual selection process allows chapters and potential members to find their best fit. After the last round of the recruitment process, potential new members sign the Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA), which is a binding agreement effective for one calendar year. By signing the document, potential new members agree that they are willing to accept a bid for membership from any sorority they rank on the MRABA. The contract exists to help guide your student through recruitment to help them make the best decision on which organization to join.

If your student received an invitation to membership from any sorority that they ranked on their MRABA, then they are bound to that group for one calendar year, regardless of whether they accept the bid or not. This means they are not eligible to participate in Continuous Open Bidding (COB) in spring 2025. However, they are eligible to participate in recruitment again in the next primary recruitment period, fall 2025.

If your student chose not to complete the MRABA and withdrew from recruitment, they are eligible to accept a bid for membership from any sororities participating in COB. While not guaranteed, a small number of sororities may be able to recruit a limited number of women through the COB process after primary recruitment.
