What to Expect

During recruitment, you can expect various activities and events designed to introduce you to the different chapters. This period is an opportunity to meet members, learn about their values and see where you might fit in.

The Recruitment Process

As a potential new member, here are some events you’ll experience during recruitment.

Registration

Fall semester recruitment is the only semester where you must register and pay the recruitment fee. Potential new members can find the registration link on our website in early summer. In the spring semester, an interest form is created by CUIFC that is distributed to all chapters to share with potential new members.

Kickoff Event

Kickoff is an opportunity to meet all the CUIFC-affiliated chapters in a low-key environment. Kickoff is designed to help you decide what events you would like to attend throughout the rest of the process.

Convocation

This event only happens during the fall semester and shares insight into CUIFC and the recruitment process.

Open House Rounds

These events allow you to meet chapters at a variety of different activities like cookouts, game nights, sporting events and other hangouts.

Invite-Only Round

Chapters will select specific potential new members to attend these events. Events vary by chapter but typically include interviews to get to know potential new members better and make final decisions about bids.

Bid Day

The CUIFC community welcomes new members during this exciting event!

Financial Information

It is important to understand that joining a fraternity involves a financial commitment.

Finances vary from chapter to chapter, but potential new members should expect to pay some sort of dues, regardless of the organization you join. Some chapters have live-in fees as well, which increase dues prices if you choose to live in the chapter house. Some groups also have opportunities for scholarships or payment plans, so definitely ask about finances at recruitment events!
