Benson 125 Access Policy and User Agreement
Overview:
The laboratories of Benson Rm# 125 occupy a communal space. This communal space houses the scientific operations of four different lab groups from the Department of Geological Sciences. Unsupervised access to Benson 125 is restricted to active users of the laboratory facilities housed in this space who have a completed and signed a User Agreement. Access to this space is granted and governed by the Benson 125 space committee (Bell, Crow, Hankins, Flowers, Metcalf, Mahan, Templeton). Access to this space requires a submission of a written request which includes reason for the request and a description of the research facilities and equipment to which access is being requested.
Access Policy Terms:
Equipment and facility access, as well as access to Rm #125, will be granted by individual laboratory facility managers (Bell - electron microprobe and XRD facilities, Hankins - Raman lab, Metcalf - TRaIL space), pursuant to the individual training and safety policies of each managed facility. BuffOne card access to the Benson Rm# 125 only confers permission to access and use the equipment and physical laboratory facilities for which a given user has been approved. BuffOne card access to Benson Rm# 125 will be granted for a term of one year (Sept 1 - Aug 31, in sync with the academic year). The list of users will be reviewed at the beginning of each academic year and inactive users removed. The granted access is for normal business hours only, unless after-hours access is specifically requested and approved.
Unauthorized use of equipment, facilities, or spaces not specified in the signed user agreement will result in the revocation of access to Benson 125. All users are obliged to abide by individual laboratory/facility user policies and safety protocol. Violations of individual laboratory policy and safety protocols may also result in the revocation of access to Benson 125. Access will be granted during regular business hours 8am – 5pm M-F. Extended hours are times that are outside of the regular hour times.
