At MIT I had the opportunity to communicate the excitement of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) topics with a wide audience. I enjoy the challenge of clearly communicating a technical concept while still making it engaging, interesting, and funny, and hope to do more in the future.

I was one of 50 graduate students selected to attend the 2014 Communicating Science Workshop in Cambridge, MA.

My wife wrote a data-driven article on bike lanes for FiveThirtyEight:

I wrote for the MIT Ask an Engineer website from 2013-2014, and have answered the following questions with the help of subject-matter experts from the MIT community:

• Is there a way to detect my car’s keyless remote if I don’t know where it is?
• How many solar panels do I need on my house to become energy independent?
• How can a person ride a motorcycle 100 mph but not stand up in 100 mph wind?
• How do birds sit on high-voltage power lines without getting electrocuted?

I have also served as the interviewee subject-matter expert for the following answers:

• Is it possible to collect energy from a moving roller coaster?
• How does a match burn in a spacecraft?
• How does an aircraft steer while taxiing on a runway?
