Gadisa Merdassa is a graduate student of Structural Engineering at the University of
Colorado Boulder expects to graduate with a Master of Science degree in
the Spring of 2023. He received his bachelor’s degree from Hawassa University in
Ethiopia. He has over 3 years of experience in road infrastructure design and road
asset management in Ethiopia. Gadisa will continue towards his Ph.D. studies
after graduation. His current research focuses on the study of the engineering
microstructure and mechanical behavior of the Living Building Materials (LBM) for
Structural Applications by developing microstructural models and identifying the correct
engineering parameters for the structural design of the living building materials under various
loading scenarios. He is a current member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE),
American Concrete Institute (ACI) and American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
