Effective Sep. 1, Holly Gates-Mayer is serving as the interim Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC) for the Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S). The former AVC for EH&S, Brandon Boger has stepped down to fill another roll within the department, as the Director of Special Projects.
Gates-Mayer joined the CU Boulder EH&S office in 2012 as the campus Biosafety Officer (BSO) after working at the University of Idaho for 18 years as an industrial hygienist and BSO. After several years in the EH&S office as BSO, Gates-Mayer took on the additional role of assistant director. Then, most recently, she served as the Director of Research Safety and Support. Her breadth of knowledge and expertise will bring vital experience to our EH&S programs, crucial in supporting the university's strategic initiatives.
EH&S provides comprehensive services and support that allow the university to maintain its high health and safety standards for its many laboratories, work areas and classrooms. EH&S achieves this through interdepartmental collaboration. The department's work is designed to minimize safety, health, environmental and regulatory risks to the university community.
