Stand Out By Becoming a My Green Lab Certified Lab

Thanks to funding from Infrastructure and Resilience (I&R), CU Boulder Green Labs is offering the opportunity for research labs across campus to obtain My Green Lab Certification.  My Green Lab is a non-profit organization and a leader world-wide in lab certification for sustainability.  Not only are labs at academic institutions seeking certification, but also companies in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields. Furthermore, funding bodies such as Wellcome and Cancer Research UK will start to require sustainability certification (where My Green Lab is one of the choices) at the end of the calendar year and Science Foundation Ireland is already partnering with My Green Lab on certification of labs connected to their funding. My Green Lab Certification is recognized by both the United Nations Race to Zero Campaign and the United State EPA Environmentally Preferred Purchasing Program.

Last academic year, three CU Boulder labs (Office of Animal Resources, Burdick Lab, and the Living Materials Lab) became the first campus labs to obtain My Green Labs Certification. This year, CU Boulder Green Labs is providing the opportunity for many more campus labs to participate in certification.  Labs can achieve Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Green certification levels based on the implementation of green lab best practices in their lab.

Please email greenlabs@colorado.edu if you would like to sign up.  CU Boulder Green Labs will come to your lab group meeting to provide more information on how the certification process works.
