Sandra Schulberg is President of IndieCollect, the nonprofit organization that rescues, restores, and reactivates American indie films. Its acclaimed restorations premiere at prestige venues —American Cinematheque, Academy Museum, Museum of Modern Art, New York Film Festival — and are showcased at RescueFest. IndieCollect has also archived thousands of film negatives, maintains the IndieCollect Index, and publishes film catalogs and newsletters. In 2014, she completed restoration of Nuremberg: Its Lesson for Today, which shows how footage compiled by OSS officers Budd & Stuart Schulberg was used to convict the top Nazi leaders. She co-produced the 2023 documentary, Filmmakers for the Prosecution, about the making of Nuremberg. A longtime advocate for “Off-Hollywood” filmmakers, she founded the IFP in 1978 (now Film Independent in Los Angeles, Gotham Institute in New York, and Film North in the Twin Cities) and co-founded First Run Features. Her movie credits include Sundance Grand Prize- winner Waiting for the Moon, Oscar-nominated Quills, and Cannes Camera d’Or-winners Alambrista and Northern Lights. Schulberg holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College and taught Feature Film Financing & International Co-Production at Columbia University for 16 years. For her contributions to American independent cinema, she received Film Independent’s Spirit Award, IFP’s Gotham Award, the Berlinale’s Kamera Award and the Heritage Award from the National Society of Film Critics.
