Mario Nicolais is an attorney and journalist with expertise in government affairs and election law. As the managing member for KBN Law, LLC, Mario has argued and won many cases at the local, state, and federal level. He has appeared multiple times before the Colorado Supreme Court and made winning arguments in seminal election law cases. He has also represented several national political organizations. In 2020 he led legal efforts by The Lincoln Project to protect election integrity and ballot access in states such as Texas, Arizona, Pennsylvania and Georgia.
In 2011 Mario served on the Colorado Reapportionment Commission charged with redistricting state legislative lines. Since then, he has been a leading voice for redistricting reform. He has used his weekly column in the Colorado Sun to highlight inefficiencies in the current system and proposals for change.
