Levi Frazier Jr. is a multifaceted artist, educator and playwright with over 50 original plays to his credit, including works performed nationally and internationally. As the co-founder and artistic director of Beale Street Repertory Company and Blues City Cultural Center, Frazier has made significant contributions to theater, including his musical Down on Beale Street, which enjoyed an off-Broadway run in New York. His plays, such as A Tribute to Richard Wright and The Juneteenth Story, have been recognized for their cultural impact, receiving honors like the Ostrander Award and the Southern Writers Project Award. Frazier is also a published author of children’s books and essays, and his work has appeared in several anthologies. An accomplished actor, he has appeared in films such as The Firm and The Chamber. Frazier holds degrees from Rhodes College and the University of Memphis, and has devoted his career to education and artistic excellence.
