Biography
Jon Leslie serves as Senior Associate Vice Chancellor of Strategic Communications and Chief Communications Officer at CU Boulder. Jon and his team lead campus-wide communications that support CU Boulder students, faculty and staff and inspire affinity for our university.
Jon has been with CU Boulder since 2004. He has played an integral role in the university’s marketing and strategic communications efforts, including the launch and rollout of the campus Be Boulder platform. He has held the roles of assistant vice chancellor for strategic marketing, assistant vice chancellor for campus communications and digital engagement and associate vice chancellor of marketing and content strategy prior to his current role.
Prior to joining CU Boulder, Jon developed a broad background in communications, branding, and marketing over 10 years in the private sector. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in writing from Towson University in 1994. He has also pursued graduate studies in teaching and in American literature at Johns Hopkins University and at CU Denver, respectively.
An avid Buff, Jon cares deeply about the success and belonging of all CU Boulder students, faculty and staff. Jon also has a deep passion for the role public higher education plays in enhancing and sustaining human society. A University of Colorado Excellence in Leadership Program (ELP) Fellow, Jon has served on several key campus and system committees, including the Buff Undergraduate Success Leadership Implementation Team, Academic Futures Steering Committee, Diversity and Inclusion Summit Planning Committee, CU System Brand Identity Standards Board, and the New Student Welcome planning team, among many others.
