Jaisal Noor is the democracy cohort manager at the Solutions Journalism Network, where he leads programming to help newsrooms rethink how they cover politics, government and civic life — shifting away from an overemphasis on failures toward rigorous reporting on how people are working to solve problems and what can be learned from both successes and failures.
 

Before joining SJN, Noor spent more than a decade in the newsroom. A freelance journalist, his reporting has appeared in The Atlantic, The Baltimore Beat, Bolts Magazine, Democracy Now! and The Real News Network.
