First-Generation Student Resources
Being the first in your family to go to college is something to be proud of, and you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. At the Center for Cultural Connections & Community, we’re here to support your goals, connect you with others and help you make the most of your time at CU Boulder.
First-Generation Programs and Enrichment
The First-Generation Programs and Enrichment team is here to support you during your college experience. We work with students in the First-Generation Scholars Program and connect all first-gen students to resources, mentorship and opportunities across campus.
Our goal is simple: help you feel supported, build community and find your path—academically, personally and professionally. Through programs, events and partnerships, we create space for you to connect, learn and thrive.

Am I first gen?
You may identify as first gen if:
- Your parents do not have a four-year degree
- You were raised by a single parent without a four-year degree
- You attend college alongside your parents
- You were raised by someone other than degree-holding parents
- Your parents earned degrees outside the U.S.
We understand this definition may not fully encompass all circumstances and welcome additional experiences where students identify as first gen.
