Pat Rooney wrote his first story covering CU Buffs athletics in October of 2001 and continues to be a mainstay at CU football and basketball games. After working eight-plus years at the late Rocky Mountain News, Rooney joined Prairie Mountain Publishing, home of the Boulder Daily Camera, in 2011. He began covering CU athletics for the Camera full-time during the 2015-16 academic year and remains a leading voice in coverage of the Buffs’ men’s basketball program. Rooney’s columns are a regular highlight in the Camera sports section. True story: His Forever Buff wife is the one in the house with the journalism degree (Class of ’99), and they are the proud parents of two young daughters. Rooney played NCAA Division III football at North Park University in Chicago, where he earned a B.A. in communications.
