Greg Asner

Earth sciences professor and pioneer Greg Asner (ArchEgnr’91, MGeog’95, PhDEPOBio’97) was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Greg developed his own new methods for investigating tropical deforestation, degradation, ecosystem diversity, invasive species, carbon emissions and climate change using satellite and airborne instrumentation. He is a staff scientist in global ecology at the Carnegie Institution for Science and an environmental earth system sciences professor in the Stanford University earth sciences school. Greg lives in Stanford, Calif.
