I’m an east coast transplant who came to CU for graduate school in 1987 and never left. I’ve worked on campus as a teacher of writing and literature, the SASC Writing Coordinator, and now Director of Undergraduate Enrichment Programs. UEP provides mentoring, support and programming to Boettcher, Daniels and Norlin Scholars. As an "advocoachator" (advocate/coach/educator/mentor) my work has crystalized into the areas of human development, narrative thinking and contemplative education. I’m particularly interested in the ways contemplative and inquiry-based practices such as Laura Rendón's transformative concept "sentipensante" (sensing/thinking) can make our campus more welcoming and inclusive. I find joy in supporting students' whole selves as they develop into emerging scholars and professionals, and I’m grateful to work with an exceptional team that values creating and sustaining a healthy and balanced environment.
