Outcomes and Data

Since 2016, the CU Biophysics program has trained 71 NIH-funded trainees, 24 CU-funded trainees, and 6 affiliates. Our trainees are extremely successful:

• 100% of NIH-supported trainees have earned graduate degrees (87.5% PhD/certificate and 12.5% MS)
• The average time to completion of a PhD is 5.6 years
• PhD graduates average 4 total publications and 2 first-author publications
• 100% of PhD graduates secured postdoctoral or science-related employment after graduation

Some of the positions held by our trainees include:

• Postdoctoral researchers, at locations including the Scripps Institute, Oregon Health & Science University, and the University of Wisconsin
• Scientists and researchers at companies like Watchmaker Genomics, Enveda, and Bristol Myers Squibb
• Patent agent
• Medical writer
