Abdiel Agramonte Moreno

Personal: My name is Abdiel Agramonte-Moreno and I am a senior in Aerospace Engineering. I plan on graduating in the spring of 2018 with an Engineering Leadership Certificate and an Engineering Management Certificate on top of my B.S. in Aerospace. Aside from academics I was also a part of the University Track and Field team during my sophomore and junior years, earning PAC-12 Academic Honorable Mention during the latter. I am a Cuban-born immigrant who moved to the U.S. at the age of 9 with my mother and grandmother after winning the Cuban Immigration Lottery. I have many different hobbies that I enjoy depending on the day. On my free time I usually enjoy snowboarding, working out, making CAD designs, and playing the viola.

Professional/Career Goals: This past summer (2017) I got to intern at MDA US Systems in Pasadena, CA as a Mechanical Engineer. I was tasked with designing a test fixture for the Mars 2020 Sample Handling Arm linear actuator. Apart from designing that test fixture I also got the opportunity to help on several other projects by doing hands-on testing of other arms components. I worked closely with industry specialists who taught me on the job and helped me grow as an engineer. I plan to return to MDA after graduation for a full-time position. Ultimately the goal is Grad School, I plan to work for 1-2 years after college before applying to grad school for my Masters in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California.
