Faculty and students connect at CU on the Road

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA- On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the University of Colorado Boulder welcomed roughly 80 attendees—including students, alumni, faculty, and staff—for a vibrant in-person gathering in Mountain View, California. Organized for students in the CU on Coursera online master’s programs, the event provided a valuable opportunity to build community beyond the virtual classroom for students living in the Bay Area.

Approximately 60 guests attended the event, with a steady stream of participants arriving as doors opened at 5:00 PM. The evening kicked off with a buffet-style dinner and casual networking, followed by an interactive networking bingo activity designed to spark conversation and connections among learners and faculty members.

CU Boulder faculty and program staff offered a warm welcome, setting the tone for the evening and emphasizing the importance of cultivating relationships within the online learning community. One of the highlights of the event was the faculty roundtables, where attendees had the chance to engage directly with professors in small-group discussions around research, career advice, and academic experiences.

"Events like CU on the Road are a powerful reminder that connection doesn’t stop at the screen. Bringing our online students and faculty together in person helps strengthen the vibrant community that defines CU Boulder," Kaitlyn Rye, Data Science Program Director, said of the event.

The night wrapped up with a raffle drawing for CU-themed prizes at 7:15 PM, before officially closing at 7:30 PM. Whether catching up with classmates, meeting instructors face-to-face, or simply enjoying a shared meal, the event captured the spirit of community that defines the CU Boulder experience—both online and off.
