Our Mentor Advisory Program (MAP) is designed to facilitate one-on-one interactions between faculty and underrepresented students to promote academic excellence, cultivate scholarly research, encourage cross-cultural understanding and build a sense of community and connectedness to the university. Nationally, mentorship programs are renowned for producing students who are noted for academic excellence, leadership, social responsibility and encouraging high retention rates and persistence of students.

The Goal of MAP is to:

Motivate, inspire and challenge students through intellectual, academic and social support that will be a factor in their sucess as students and in their professional careers.

MAP Mentors are interested in:

  • Staying connected in an informal and positive way.
  • Being informed about the changing nature, interests and concerns of students.
  • Gathering new ideas and perspectives that can be applied to your work.
  • Making a difference in a student's campus experience.

MAP Mentees are interested in:

  • Receiving guidance, academic and social support by dedicated professionals.
  • Enhancing intellectual and social development.
  • Increasing leadership skills.
  • Staying connected in an informal and positive way.
