Chancellor's Standing Committee on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues

The University of Colorado has worked hard to achieve a national reputation as an outstanding research and educational institution. All university employees, whether heterosexual or homosexual, should be employed on the merit of their performance and contribution to the educational process.

As the university desires to attract the very best faculty, staff, and students, it is essential that we provide an environment in which all individuals - regardless of sexual orientation, gender or racial or ethnic identity - can pursue their professional and educational goals free of harassment, discrimination, and threat of physical violence.

Committee goals for the near future include:

To remain vigilant in protecting a positive and supportive climate for GLBT people on campus,
To add "gender expression/gender identity" to CU's nondiscrimination policy,
To help the newly created GLBT Advisory Board raise matching funds for a Gill Foundation Grant to benefit the GLBT Resource Center, the LBGT Studies Certificate Program, and the LBGT Alumni Association,
To provide direction for CU's mandatory diversity training, and
To keep Chancellor Peterson apprised of GLBT issues on the Boulder campus while offering recommendations and solutions.

The Chancellor's Standing Committee on GLBT Issues aims specifically to represent the presence, concerns, and interests of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people within the university community. Please contact any of the committee members with your concerns, issues, or abuses.
