The Department of Equal Opportunity (DEO) offers a variety of services to all faculty, unclassified administrators, professional,

exempt and classified staff, students and visitors to CU-Boulder. Services are related to providing equal educational

What We Do

Affirmative Action
DEO is responsible for designing and implementing the Boulder campus affirmative action program.

This program is directed at correcting the effects of past discrimination and providing opportunities that are equitable to all.

DEO assists with creating and implementing plans and practices that will actively seek out individuals to include those who

traditionally have been excluded from the work force to be included in employment and admission pools.

The office ensures compliance with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and all subsequent federal and state civil rights laws and regulations.

The Director of the DEO is an ex-officio member of the search committees and assists with increasing diversity in employment .

The department also serves as a clearinghouse for information regarding hiring practices for the University of Colorado at Boulder.
