Ivan Smalyukh was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) for seminal contributions to the physics of liquid crystal colloids, topological solitons, and related soft matter systems.

The researchers team, led by CU Professors Ivan Smalyukh and Ronggui Yang, will use liquid crystals to create a transparent, solid film that is insulating, soundproof and water condensation-proof. The team includes graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
