Paul King, PhD, is the Acting Center Director for Biosciences, and Manager of the Physical Biochemistry and Photosynthesis Group at NREL. His research interests are on reduction-oxidation (redox) enzymes that catalyze biological transformation reactions that are fundamental to solar energy conversion. A focus of the work is to apply biophysical and spectroscopic approaches to understand electron transfer and small molecule activation mechanisms, where light-capture by nanoscale materials is utilized to photoactivate reactions and capture transient intermediates.
