Big Energy Seminar Series

Since 2010, the RASEI Big Energy Seminar Series has brought nationally and internationally recognized researchers and experts to Colorado to share their work and insights on the full spectrum of energy challenges and opportunities. With over 300 presentations spanning more than a decade, the series has established itself as a premier forum for energy research discussion at the University of Colorado Boulder.

The series is defined by its breadth. Speakers come from across the full range of energy-related disciplines, from materials scientists, engineers, to economists, social scientists, policy experts, and industry scientists, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of modern energy challenges. Topics range from fundamental materials research and device physics to grid innovation, energy policy, community impacts, and emerging technologies. This diversity of perspectives is intentional: understanding and advancing clean, modern energy systems requires insights from many disciplines working together.

Each seminar offers an opportunity to hear directly from leading voices in energy research and development, engage with cutting-edge ideas, and connect with a community of researchers, students, and practitioners who share a commitment to advancing clean energy solutions. Whether you're a researcher working in energy, a student exploring the field, or simply curious about the latest developments in energy science and technology, the Big Energy Seminar Series offers something for you.

Seminars are held regularly throughout the year in hybrid format, join us in person in Boulder or participate virtually from anywhere. Browse our archive to explore past presentations and sign up for our mailing list to receive advance notice of upcoming seminars so you never miss a talk.
