The Pathways to Excellence summer bridge program is a unique residential workshop that prepares incoming first-year CMCI students for academic success in media, communication and information. The program is particularly well-suited to students who want that extra boost to thrive and achieve at CU Boulder. CMCI recognizes that a range of students may feel unsure of their place in institutions of higher learning that have not served them well, historically and into the present—for example, students who are the first in their family to attend college, who deal with economic struggles, who embody underrepresented racial-ethnic identities, who identify as gender non-normative or queer and many other folks.
Pathways to Excellence welcomes you to a week-long academic and community building intensive intended to ease the transition into life as a college student while affirming the contributions a diversity of voices makes to CMCI. As a participant in the program, you will produce your own advertising campaign and/or multimedia project. You will learn more about the college curriculum by working with faculty in Communication, Information Science and Media Studies. You will also receive math, writing, and study skill instruction; tour newsrooms and ad agencies; meet with advisors to plan their course schedules; and enjoy extracurricular activities in Boulder and the surrounding area.
Before fall semester classes even begin, come meet new friends and mentors and launch your academic careers with a strong sense of community!
