CUPD Awards Ceremony, Aug. 13, 2019
On Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, we held the CUPD Annual Awards banquet. Here are the awards that were handed out that night.
GROUP AWARD
- Sarah Stubbs and Lisa McCammon were recognized for their work to keep the records division moving forward while being short one-third of the normal staff.
- Officers Drew Matthews, Chris Orlando, Troy Lewis, and Ronnie Schwartz and Sergeants Shawn Sloan and Josh Ferguson were honored for their work with BPD safely and quickly arresting a suspect with a gun at the Base Mar Shopping Center.
- Doug Abraham, Commander Mark Heyart, Communications Center Manager Melissa Hart, IT Manager Tom Lange, Glenn Rodrigues, Shane Miller, John Krueger, Steven Stasica, Crystal Dicino, Brian Hutchinson, Angela Peters, Angie Naillon, LeCarla Christian, Kevin Eastman, Nathan Newby and James Fudge were recognized for their tireless work on the radio project.
POLICE CITATION OF EXCELLENCE
- Corporal Ken Pacheco was recognized for his work and compassion in the missing student case this past spring.
- Investigator Ruth Christopher and Property and Evidence Technician Will Heskett were honored for their work in the arrest and evidence collection and documentation of a burglary suspect from last fall following a string of burglaries in the residence halls.
LIFESAVING MEDAL
- Dispatcher Karina Gibbs-Berlinski, Officers Kevin Brough and Drew Matthews, and Corporal Clay Austin were honored for their lifesaving actions last October on a resident in family housing.
DIRECTOR’S COMMENDATION
- Corporal Urie VonFeldt was recognized for his work to improve the bait bike program.
- Terri Willis was honored for her HR work and dedication to CUPD.
UNSUNG HERO
- CSO Andrew Manning was recognized for his work in identifying an assault suspect in the UMC and maintaining visual contact with the suspect until officers arrived to make the arrest.
We also handed out coins for five, ten, 15, and 20 or more years of service.
