Dalai Lama Campus Traffic Impacts

On Thursday, June 23, 2016, the University of Colorado Boulder Student Government, the CU Boulder Cultural Events Board and the Tibetan Association of Colorado will welcome His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Coors Events Center. There will be two teaching sessions at 9:30 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. Because of this visit, traffic and parking on the University of Colorado Boulder campus will be heavily impacted.

Access to Regent Drive between Broadway and Colorado will be limited to those people who have either a prepaid Dalai Lama parking permit or a valid CU Parking Permit. Even with a valid parking permit, no one will be allowed to stop on Regent Drive to drop off or pick up riders.

If you are coming to campus via taxi, Uber, or Lyft, we highly recommend finding a safe spot to be dropped off on the west side of Campus.

If you are coming to the event and do not have a prepaid Dalai Lama parking permit or a valid CU Parking Permit, we highly recommend that you use RTD’s bus service, ride a bike or walk to get to campus. You can find information about RTD’s Boulder routes here or here. For more information, please go to their website and click on “Parking & Transportation.”

The roads in and around the CU Boulder campus will also see short, temporary closures as His Holiness is transported to and from the Coors Event Center.
