Mitosis is a form of cell division that has traditionally been categorized into a set of defined stages. When classifying these stages, the distinction between these phases is occasionally unclear and, unfortunately, requires someone to laboriously look at each cell and propose a cell-phase classification. I aimed to create a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) that could recognize the different stages of mitosis in Schizosaccharomyces pombe through unbiased shape recognition.
