Research Interests

While at San Francisco State, I worked on understanding how crystals grow during the synthesis of semiconductor films. After discovering how interesting the physics of cell division was, I decided to switch to biophysics and joined the Betterton group in 2019. During cell division, a mitotic spindle forms to align and pull chromosomes apart. Our group simulates spindle formation in fission yeast cells using computational models.  I am currently study the organization and structure of the interpolar bundle of the mitotic spindle in order to better compare with and understand experimental results.
