Visualizing the Path of Scholarly Work

MASP Student Working in Lab
We are thrilled to be starting a new initiative that highlights all the amazing research and creative work that our students do. In Spring 2017, MASP received a departmental UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program) Grant to help advance the visibility of our student scholars. Our vision for the work is to both honor our students who are doing research or creative work and to help students interested in such scholarly work get connected with other MASPians who are already doing so. To meet these goals, we are organizing two projects: Student Scholar Spotlights for our website and a MASP Scholars Community Event.

Student Scholar Spotlights. We are currently in production of multi-media bios that will highlight the work of MASPians conducting research and creating original works. The bios, produced by fellow MASPians, will include a discussion of how the student scholar got involved in their work, what they’ve learned, and tips/insights for future students. These bios will be coming soon on our website, rotating every few weeks.

MASP Scholars Spotlight Night. In the tradition of MASP’s community events, we will implement a new annual community event focused on students’ research and creative projects. The MASP Scholars Spotlight Night event will accommodate poster presentations of student research, creative projects, and include a dedicated time for any performances. This event will serve both to honor our students who undertake these research/scholarly activities as well as help the younger student cohorts learn about what is possible and how to get involved.
