Climate Justice Leader Andrea Nawage

Andrea Nawage is Native and despite being low-income, having a lack of institutional eduation and limited time - her desire is to make a change in this world pushed her to get involved with the Climate Justice Leaders program because of the huge opportunity it offered to empower the community to create change. She firmly believes that changes need to happen by working directly with people, especially marginalized communities, that don't always have the same access to educational resources. Her motivation and inspiration come from the vision of insuring a better future for the next generations. Andrea worked with the department of Social Services for more than 15 years and is now back in school studying Environmental Studies. She is a single mother of two beautiful children, an active member in her Native community and an advocate for a sustainable living style that produces and practices Native spirituality. She loves her culture, traditions and being in the water as much as she likes to preserve it -  she especially loves extreme sports such as white water rafting, kayaking and swimming in ice cold water!
