NAME
The Infrastructure and Resilience Opportunity for Change Committee (IROCC)
PURPOSE
To boldly strengthen our community by fostering engagement, employee development, recognition, and open communication within Infrastructure and Resilience. We aim to inspire growth through personalized learning and promoting access to opportunities and resources.
As a volunteer committee, we work in direct collaboration with and specifically support Infrastructure and Resilience’s HR objectives.
MEMBERSHIP
- Composition - To ensure there is adequate representation, a conscious effort will be made to monitor the makeup of the committee to ensure a balance of identities (e.g. gender, nationality, race, abilities, etc.).
- Eligibility – Members are CU boulder affiliates and may include:
- Infrastructure & Resilience Staff (up to 15 members)
- Campus Members at Large (up to 6 Faculty and or student members)
MEETINGS
Committee members are expected to:
- Have supervisor approval to participate.
- Actively participate by bringing views, opinions, expertise, etc., to meetings.
- Attend a majority of meetings and actively participate in discussions, training, and activities.
- Join and actively participate in sub-committees as needed and/or according to expertise and/or interest.
- Have an open mind and willingness to challenge and be challenged in working towards positive change.
- Communicate with one of the co-chairs if they cannot attend a meeting. If a member misses more than three meetings in one year, they may be asked to either vacate their spot on the committee or find a new member to replace them.
- Respect others in order to ensure open and honest discussion during meetings and to instill confidence that information or discussions won’t be shared outside of the meeting.
- Remain engaged in the recruiting process by recommending committee members as needed.
DUTIES
ELECTED POSITIONS AND PROCESS
Leadership of IROCC will consist of three elected roles, the Chair, Co-Chair and Co-Chair Elect. Each person commits to a three-year term, one in each role, and will rotate into the new higher role, unless someone else is elected for the position, or leaders agree to remain in their current roles. Annual elections will be held each December, and solicitation to be considered for a role and voting will be managed electronically, if applicable. If no new members submit to run for a position, the existing leaders will rotate into a higher role unless other arrangements are agreed to by the other leads and a majority vote of the committee.
COMMITTEE CHAIR
- Shall preside at and coordinate agenda for all meetings of the membership
- Represent IROCC at I&R all hands meetings if speaking required
- Coordinate agenda with I&R HR Director for monthly “co-chair/HR leadership” meetings
- Coordinate annual meetings with I&R leadership and lead creation of a report on IROCC objectives and achievements
- Perform other duties as warranted by the position
CO-CHAIR
- Shall provide support and back-up for the Chair at monthly meetings
- Manage IROCC monthly meeting calendar
- Manage budget and annual review and updates in alignment with budget planning dates
- Work with the Chair to be prepared to assume the office of Chair during the next term.
- Attend monthly “co-chair/HR leadership” meetings
- Serve at least one year in role of as Co-Chair in preparation for moving up
CO-CHAIR ELECT
- Shall take meeting minutes for full committee meetings
- Maintain committee records and file structure updates as needed.
- Serve at least one year in role of as Co-Chair Elect in preparation for moving int Co-Chair role
- Attend monthly “co-chair/HR leadership” meetings
NON-ELECTED ROLES
HR REPRESENTATIVE/ADVISOR
- As a committee specifically empowered to support the goals of I&R HR, the committee will have a HR representative
- If that person is not in an elected position, they will fulfill a HR Advisory Role.
COMMITTEE LEADS
Each of the three ongoing sub-committees shall have an appointed lead, who will coordinate monthly sub-committee meetings and provide report-outs at the IROCC monthly meetings. Committees include:
- Events and Recognition
- Development
- Communications
GENERAL MEMBERS
Shall participate in meetings, contribute to discussions, and assist in implementing initiatives.
LENGTH OF SERVICE
- All committee members are asked to commit to a minimum of one (1) year of service to the committee. Unless the Committee itself wishes to limit the length of service, members may serve in sequential terms.
- Student representatives may serve if they are enrolled and degree seeking at CU and are not rendered ineligible if they are not enrolled during a single academic quarter or a single academic semester.
RECRUITING COMMITTEE MEMBERS
- Current committee members may recommend colleagues, associates, students, etc. for membership as needed and/or appropriate.
- Anyone who is interested in joining the committee can reach out to an existing committee member or contact us.
- Candidates are also able to fill out an IROCC membership application form and submit it to the committee for consideration (not required).
- Final decision for committee membership shall be made by the Chair(s) based on the recommendations of the committee.
FRIENDS OF THE COMMITTEE
This is a special group of “friends” or “advisors” to be included in emails, meetings and events. IROCC friends can be university students, faculty or staff who have expressed an interest in IROCC but are unable to commit to the committee membership requirements. They could be volunteers or subcommittee participants on events, training, etc. Friends can also be business/community members or at large. Friends would receive notification of events, updates on meeting agenda items of interest, etc.
