Tryon P. Woods is Assistant Professor of Sociology, Anthropology, and Crime & Justice Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, where he is affiliated with the African & African American Studies and Women's Studies programs.  He has worked with community-based organizations on HIV/AIDS prevention, supportive housing for drug users, and police accountability.  His articles have appeared in American Studies, Radical Teacher, Seattle Journal of Social Justice, and the Journal of Race, Gender, and Poverty.  His research examines antiblackness in two parallel contexts:  the politics of race and sex violence in North America and anti-colonial social movements across the African Diaspora.
