Biography
Audrey Burba, Ph.D., holds a joint appointment in the Department of French and Italian and The Humanities Program.
A native of France and educated in the United States, Professor Burba earned her Ph.D. in French from Emory University. Her research explores cultural and literary representations of illness, health, and the body in the modern period. Her academic interests span medical history and anthropology, 19th-21st century French literature and critical thought, feminist theory, and the semiotics and sociology of culture. Professor Burba has extensive experience teaching French language and literature at all levels. Additionally, she offers courses on visual culture, women’s artistic traditions, critical theory, and medical humanities.
