Subsidies for groundwater pumping

This is a presentation in English of the main findings and the article in Spanish. Groundwater pumping subsidies are a way to support farming practices in Mexico. The result is aquifer degradation and an even more unequal distribution of benefits. The poorer farmers don't have access to groundwater pumping. A solution is an elimination of electric subsidies to reduce aquifer overexploitation and a parallel investment in more direct subsidies to poor farmers.
