Booths

  • The festival is not a profit-making activity.
  • Only the first 30 applications that are submitted on time, with no missing information, will be guaranteed with a booth and food during the day of the event. Check the deadlines!
  • Once application is submitted, resubmission of the application will not be accepted. Any change in submitted recipe will not be entertained but changes in design of Phrase Poster or AV equipment will be considered. If you would like to change Phrase sign design or AV equipment request, please contact us (ifc@colorado.edu).
  • Any CU Boulder student or student group that represents a country, region, or specific culture is eligible to apply for the International Festival.
    • Each booth must have a current CU student and the application must be submitted by a CU student.
  • Only maps and flags related to your nation/culture will be allowed to be displayed.
  • Religious proselytism in any form is strictly prohibited during the event.
  • Promotional materials, materials that are unrelated to representing culture, related to political issues, etc. are not allowed; any member of the International Festival Committee reserves the right to remove any materials they deem to be objectionable.
  • Real weapons are not allowed on campus. The International Festival Committee also does not approve simulated weapons on booths.
  • Each student group must send a representative to the International Festival Briefing that happens in March. This representative will be responsible communicating with other booth members. Specifics TBD.
  • Each booth must have at least two representatives at all times during the event.
  • Prior to the event, for a limited time, booth representatives can and should come in to decorate the booth. Specifics will be announced at the International Festival Briefing.

  • The following are requirements for each booth at the International Festival. Booths that do not meet all the requirements might lose their eligibility to participate in the International Festival for the following year:
    • Providing AT LEAST 6 pictures related to the representing culture/region/country. They should be a good or high quality, and should be printed on an 8.5 in x 11 in page (letter size). Note that these pictures will not be printed by the International Festival Committee, but groups have to provide it to their booths.
    • Submission of an Image or document of 3 common native phrase(s) with the appropriate English translations. These phrases should include "Wish you were here" and "Greetings from ". It should have the phrases in the common native language of your culture/region/country with phonetics and in English. This should be in a good or high quality, and printed on an 841 mm x 1189 mm sheet (A0 size). This picture(s) will be printed by the International Festival Committee and provided to the group at the day of the event.
    • 1 Interactive activity (fun fact flip cards, writing names in native characters, photoshoot with traditional clothes, etc.)
    • Completion of the International Festival participant satisfaction survey (provided at event check-in).

Food

  • Due to budget constraints, the International Festival Committee will only accept vegetarian recipes.
  • Any special dietary requests such as Kosher/Halal, gluten-free, etc. and special/rare ingredient requests such as saffron, matsutake, truffles, etc. will not be entertained due to budget constraints.
  • The International Festival Committee and UMC Catering have final authority over which recipe will be used.
  • Student groups may not bring food to serve to visitors to the festival that has not been approved by UMC Catering.
  • Only sample-sized servings of food provided by UMC Catering will be served to the visitors.
