Sarah Bensreiti Awad

Sarah Awad is a CU Boulder alumna with a background in research, health, and education. She joins the Crown Institute as a Research Assistant in Dr. Kilimnik’s Growth, Identity, and Sexual Trauma (GIST) Lab, where she brings a deep commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive research. As a first-generation American, Sarah’s passion for this work is rooted in her desire to support communities impacted by trauma and systemic barriers. Her interest in mental health research began as a McNair Scholar, when she conducted a fully funded project on wartime trauma. Since then, she has gained hands-on clinical research experience in Dr. Kenneth Wright’s sleep lab and provided direct patient care as a healthcare professional. Sarah hopes to continue this work by pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology, and she’s honored to be part of the Crown community and its mission to foster meaningful change.
