New! CMDI Software Access Program
CMDI will launch the CMDI Software Access Program on July 1, 2026.
This program is designed to streamline software purchasing, improve access to commonly used software, and ensure compliance with university accessibility, cybersecurity, and procurement requirements.
Software Covered by the Program
CMDI will centrally fund and manage licenses for the following software:
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Canva
- SketchUp
- Rhino
Effective July 1, 2026, faculty and staff should no longer purchase these titles directly. CMDI will purchase and manage these licenses centrally.
Request a License
To request a license, submit the appropriate form:
When completing the form, select Software when prompted.
A separate submission is required for each software title.
Current License Holders
If you currently have an active license for one of the titles listed above that was purchased outside of previous CMDI processes, please do not purchase a renewal.
Instead:
- Continue using your current license until it expires.
- Submit a request at least 30 days before the expiration date.
- The Technology Experience Team will coordinate your transition to a centrally managed license.
Software Required for Teaching and Curriculum Delivery
CMDI will also fund software that is formally taught as part of the curriculum and included in a course syllabus.
To request curriculum-related software:
- Complete an ICT Review.
- Submit the Faculty Technology Request Form.
- Provide the course number or course numbers where the software will be taught.
CMDI will either purchase the software on your behalf or assist you with the purchase and provide a CMDI speedtype.
Software for Research and Creative Work
Software used for research or creative work should continue to be purchased using faculty scholarly funds, grant funds, or other appropriate research funding sources.
To purchase research or creative software:
- Complete an ICT Review.
- Purchase the software using a P-Card or through Marketplace, as appropriate.
- If you do not have access to a P-Card or Marketplace, submit the Faculty Technology Request Form, and CMDI will assist with the purchase.
Staff Software Requests
Staff should submit the Staff Technology Request Form for all software requests, including college-funded software and software purchased through other funding sources.
The Technology Experience Team will review the request, confirm any required ICT Review steps, and coordinate the appropriate purchasing path.
Technology Purchasing and Reimbursements
Effective September 1, 2025, university reimbursements for technology purchases, including software, are no longer permitted.
All technology purchases must be made with a P-Card or through Marketplace.
If you need assistance with either process, submit the appropriate request form above.
Important: If you make a hardware or software purchase using a personal credit card or other personal funds, you will not be reimbursed. You may be required to return the purchase, request a refund, or reimburse the university.
