The mission of CMCI Internships & Careers is to connect students and alumni with employers in the media, including digital, journalism, broadcast, print, web, communication, film, advertising and public relations industries. Starting from the solid foundation students gain the classroom, we team with employers to help students gain real-world experience and launch successful careers. Students, alumni, employers and faculty members work together to support this mission.
Students can use CMCI Internships & Careers from the moment they set foot on campus. Take advantage of one-on-one career counseling and resume reviews, workshops, career fairs and mock job interviews. Our office helps students identify, apply for and secure for-credit internships and jobs.
Employers are educational partners: mentoring students, teaching real-world skills and preparing graduates to enter the job market. Employers directly supervise interns and evaluate their progress and skills. We offer academic credit for approved internships. Employers provide valuable experience and guidance to our students.
Alumni have free access to our extensive online job database. Graduates are Forever Buffs. We also encourage you to let us know where you are working and if you'd like to host an intern. One on one appointments are available. Email for more information.
Faculty work closely with Internships & Careers to approve, evaluate and grade interns. Faculty who teach our news editorial capstone course, Reporting 3/Newsgathering 2, and our creative advertising faculty work one-on-one with Internship Coordinator Christine Mahoney to oversee the learning experience.
